Our Trees

The beauty and nature found in these unique cultivars grown at Sand Hill Peach Farm were initiated more than 30 years ago by the University of Florida. Hard work and dedication made our scientists produce very unique trees able to withstand the Florida challenges. The numerous varieties of peaches under cultivation are generally distinguished as clingstone or freestone. Clingstone and freestone are two terms that describe the relative tendency of the flesh to adhere to the pit. In a clingstone peach, the flesh adheres to the pit so that the pit cannot be easily extracted from the flesh when the fruit is sliced in half.

Developed by the University of Florida, our tree cultivars (‘UFOne’ and ‘UFSun’) are closely related to other species of Prunus such as cherry, plum, and almond with the difference than our clingstone trees can produce beautiful pink-flowers.

Our peaches are grown on fruit trees (Prunus persica) of the family Rosaceae (rose family) having decorative pink blossoms and juicy, sweet fruit.
